Datastream
Edge Network collection configuration
A datastream is the server-side configuration that the Web SDK and Mobile SDK reference by identifier. It decides which services Edge Network passes events to: Experience Platform, Analytics, Target or event forwarding.
- When it applies
- It appears in every Web SDK implementation. It lets you change services, mapping schema or overrides without touching the page code again.
- What it is confused with
- It is not a dataset or a schema. Nor is it a harmless setting: every service you enable receives the events, and the sandbox chosen at creation cannot be changed later.
- Architecture consequence
- One datastream per environment, with only the services that have a consumer. Enabling one just in case sends data where nobody asked for it.
